Director of Dance Nation, Performer, Teacher, Mother and Mentor to young aspiring dancers. Monique was born in Brisbane and started dancing at the age of 3 in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary. Monique’s passion for teaching dance became evident very early on and at age 16 she began student teaching. Monique launched the dance program at Rivermount College in 1998 and then went on to open the doors of Dance Nation in 2006. Dance Nation has continued to thrive and grow each year and is producing some of the most talented dancers in South East Queensland. With more than 20 years experience as a choreographer and teacher, Monique teaches with passion, strong technique, an eye for detail and dedication. Monique’s teaching and choreography experience covers RAD Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical and Jazz. Monique and her students have received countless awards at competitions at regional, national and international level. Monique is committed to unearthing dance talent here in Queensland and giving Dance Nation students the edge they need to seek out a professional career in dance.
Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Jaci went to university to further her Dance (RAD and Glenn Wood Tap), Drama (Trinity College of London) and Music (AMEB) qualifications to obtain a Bachelor of Education; graduating to teach Drama, Music and Dance in schools. Jaci prides herself on not only being a triple threat but training versatile dancers. Although her experience and training covers a vast range of dance styles, her focus areas here at Dance Nation are Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Jazz. Currently Jaci also works at Ormeau Woods SHS as a teacher where she runs the dance program, including the QLD leading iDance – dance excellence program which Jaci developed and founded late 2011. Jaci has performed, directed and choreographed for various artists, companies, corporate functions and events locally, nationally and internationally – including Brisbane Festival, Griffith University, and Ed Hardy. Jaci is an inspiring teacher and her choreography is cutting edge – like no other on the Gold Coast.
Perri has been training in dance since a very young age and after completing her Certificate IV with Brent Street Fulltime Performing Arts in 2015, she relocated to Brisbane. Perri has trained in all styles of dance and in particular RAD Ballet has been a big focus of Perri’s which also led her into training under Tanya Pearson whilst she was living in Sydney. Perri still performs professionally and her experience includes performances on The Voice, Dancing With The Stars and the State of Origin. Her teaching experience is vast in RAD Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary & Technique and is a trained Ready Set Dance teacher. Perri offers a great balance to learning, fun and reaching the students potential.
Jane McPhie has been dancing, teaching and choreographing professionally for over 10 years. She began her performance career at 16 working for “Groucho’s Theatre Restaurant,’ a small cabaret venue in Brisbane. Ten years on and her career has taken her from America, Asia, Europe and back, dancing on some of the most prestigious stages in the world. Some of her performance career highlights include working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a dance captain and aerial performer and performing as a soloist with the Moulin Rouge and Paradis Latin in Paris. She had the honour of captaining Danze Fantasy’s production of Genesis at Jupiter’s casino and took the show to Thailand where she taught and international cast of twenty. As a teacher and choreographer she has had the privilege of working with several different dance studios across Queensland and choreographing for many local and international production companies.
Kylie has dancing all her life and after relocating to London in 2013, Kylie performed in a number of shows including ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Rock of Ages’ (UK national tour), ‘Musical Rocks’ (Germany/Austria) and Dick Whittington (Scotland). Kylie also appeared on the hit TV program, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, the Baileys Nutcracker Christmas Advert starring Royal Ballet/Australian ballet principal, Steven McRae and worked on music videos for several European artists including Geri Halliwell. Kylie’s other performing credits include, Conrad Jupiters Casino, Royal Caribbean International, Universal Studios Japan, Carlsberg Euro Cup Tour (Malaysia/Singapore) Raw Metal, Sydney Mardi Gras, Guy Sebastian, and Marilyn Monroe at Warner Brothers Movieworld. After performing for more than 4 years overseas Kylie relocated to the Gold Coast where she has continued working as a performer and also teaching and choreographing for leading studios. Kylie is energetic, professional and offers a wealth of knowledge and experience to our young dancers.
Roxie has been dance since she was just 3 years old, training in all styles of dance including Acrobatics. Roxie has previously loved in Sydney where she taught for 10 years teaching at some of Australia’s leading studios. She also has worked for Peter Oxford at Showcase National Dance Championships adjudicating talent all over Australia and New Zealand. Roxie has also lived in London and trained at studios such as Pineapple Dance and Studio 68. Roxie’s professional credits include The Boy from Oz, The Royal Princess and Princess Cruise lines and has also worked or Jason Coleman and Andrew Hallsworth. Roxie has a strong passion for teaching dance to students of all ages and teaches many styles including Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Lyrical and Musical Theatre. Roxie is very enthusiastic, reliable and has so much to offer our students.
Kyanne started dancing at the age of 6 and is a foundation student of DNAPA. She started off with 1 class per week but that soon progressed to many more as her love of dance grew. Kyanne has completed RAD Ballet Exams, CSTD Jazz Exams and Glenn Wood Tap Exams and has been student teaching since 2014. Kyanne was a member of the ‘iDance’ Dance Excellence program at Ormeau Woods State High School from 2012-2016. While at school, Kyanne successfully auditioned for a company dancer position for Creative Generation in 2013, 2014 & 2015. In 2016 Kyanne successfully auditioned for the Convicts Dance Megacrew (a sister group to Academy of Brothers) and travelled to Sydney to compete in Hip Hop International & travelled to LA where the group was asked to be a feature act at World of Dance. Kyanne completed year 12 in 2016 with a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood and is also a trained Ready Set Dance and Glenn Wood Tap syllabus teacher. Kyanne is a wonderful role model for our students and brings so much joy to the younger students classes.
Ashlyne has been dancing since she could walk, with a wealth of knowledge and experience she is a wonderful asset to Dance Nation. Ashlyne’s love of ballet has seen her perform with the Queensland Ballet at their International Gala and secondments with both Queensland Ballet and Sydney Dance Company. She was a semi-finalist when she competed at the International Genee’ ballet competition held in Hong Kong in 2006. More recently Ashlyne’s love of dance has seen her focus more on her teaching work which she has been doing for more than 10 years now. Ashlyne is a mother and a wonderful role model for our students offering challenging classes for all levels.
Emma has been dancing since the age of 4 in the styles of Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. She has been a student at Dance Nation since 2009 and began student teaching at the age of 12. Through year 11 and 12 Emma successfully auditioned into the ‘iDance’ excellence program at Ormeau Woods and was also a company member for many years of the nationally broadcast event “Creative Generation.” Emma is a trained tap teacher with the Glenn Wood Tap syllabus, Ready Set Dance syllabus, is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at QUT and is also employed by Dreamworld as an Entertainer. Emma has a fantastic work ethic and eye for detail. She works well with students of all ages and offers a high level of technical training.
